Welcome to Rockland St Mary

Rockland St Mary Primary takes children from the age of 4 to 11. Our Executive Head Teacher is Mrs Julia Humphrey, who joined us in September 2017 when we became part of the Sapientia Education Trust.

‘The Sapientia Education Trust was established in 2016 with the purpose of bringing like-minded schools together to work in partnership to deliver the highest standards of education to young people in Norfolk and Suffolk.  The term Sapientia comes from the logo of the founding school, Wymondham College, and means wisdom.

Sapientia are committed to delivering high academic standards in our schools, combined with a view of education that is child-centred and holistic. Our schools have a strong commitment to personal development and extra-curricular activities are strongly promoted.

Our work is cross-phase and involves a strong commitment to staff development and on-going training for all staff in our schools. We believe that collaboration and partnership work helps raise standards and we work with a range of schools within and beyond the SET Trust.

Wymondham College is one of the highest achieving state schools nationally and was ranked in the top twenty schools nationally in 2016. Our vision is to build on our success to develop a medium-sized Multi-Academy Trust where we make a real difference to the students we have the privilege of educating.’

Our children come from the village and surrounding areas.  There are approximately 56 pupils in our small and welcoming school who work in three class bases: Maple which is Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, Birnam Oaks for Years 3 and 4 and finally Redwood for years 5 and 6.

We are like a family and each child is treated as an individual as well as an important part of the whole group. We involve the children in all aspects of school life including decision making and planning for the future. We have an active School Council which enables children to have a say in what they would like to see in their school.

The children enjoy our Outdoor Learning classes which allow them to explore the nature and environment on their doorstep in and around Norfolk.

We also offer a range of after schools clubs which currently include multi sports, hip hop dance, karate and our most recent addition to these is Nutritional Ninjas which teaches cooking skills.

Visitors are welcome to come and see for themselves our warm and friendly environment.
